10月13日 What's Your Long Distance Rate added to Best Rate Discount Long Distance. This article is about the importance of the availability of information from long distance companies. In it I talk about how these companies used to keep things to themselves and do everything in their power to deceive comsumers. It is also about the importance of the long distance rate. 9月2日 Searching for Cheap Long Distance Service added to Best Rate Discount Long Distance.I have added another article to Best Rate Discount Long Distance called Searching for Cheap Long Distance Service. It simply amazes me how many consumers still have no idea how much they are being overcharged for long distance service. Many still pay over 10¢ per minute when they could be spending less than 5¢ per minute, without sacrificing call quality or customer service. 7月14日 Discount Long Distance Explained added to Best Rate Discount Long Distance.I have added an article to Best Rate Discount Long Distance. It is titled "Discount Long Distance Explained". I wrote it to explain how long distance companies can sell service so cheaply. I hope it will help the average consumer understand how discount long distance differs from casual rate long distance from the provider. 5月7日 Telecommunications Trends - Divestiture to ConsolidationIn the early 1980's AT&T was found by the Federal Communications Commision (FCC), to be a monopoly, and in violation of fair business practices. As a result of seven years of anti-trust proceedings, AT&T was divested of 22 local bell operating companies. The reason for this action was to increase competition in the telecom industry. It worked. In the 90's dozens of new companies popped up offering services from long distance to local calling. And costs for these services dropped dramatically. Even consumers in the market for dedicated communications benefited. There are now dozens of companies offering T1 Service at a fraction of the previous cost. But recently, the industry trend is toward consolidation. Just last year AT&T was aquired by SBC, one of the RBOC's it was stripped of twenty years ago. Hopefully, this trend will have no ill effect on the competition and pricing of services in the years to come. 4月21日 More people are using mobile phones to access internet.According to a survey done by research firm Ipsos Insight, 28% of mobile phone users world wide had accessed the internet on their mobile phone in 2005. This is compared to 25% at the end of the previous year. They go on to contend that in the near future we will be using mobile devices to browse the net as much as personal computers. I disagree. I do not think this is the case due to several factors. The first of these being the sheer number of people who use the internet for business purposes. These users need high speed service that can accomodate complicated tasks. Another reason I disagree is that as you are able to do more tasks on these mobile devices they become more complicated. The more complicated they become the less people will want to use them. This is just my opinion of course. |
